Strolling through the beautiful park of "El Retiro", one can find almost sculptural marvels at every turn. But if there is one that takes the cake, admired and criticized for, is undoubtedly the "Statue of the Fallen Angel" De Bellver (1845-1924).
You will find this shocking and dramatic work of art if you walk along the Paseo de Cuba, one of the largest and busiest of the park. The image stands majestically on a roundabout, mounted on a huge pedestal and surrounded by a fountain with eight water spouts shaped gargoyles or terrifying underworld beings (this last detail, was designed by José Urioste actually though few people know ). Bellver exhibited his work for the first time in 1878 in Rome, during the course of the National Fine Arts Exhibition to be held in that city. It was such a stir that caused among fans and critics who gained exposure by obtaining "first-class medal," such was the admiration of his work caused by the then Duke of Fernan Nunez, decided to purchase the statue and place it in a place of honor a roundabout then under construction in El Retiro. Its inauguration took place in Madrid in 1885 and as was the case in Rome, impact on society of the time, so that was the subject of conversation for a long time for all the cafes in Madrid. The church did not understand how someone could put a statue of Lucifer in a public park, but ultimately and fortunately, won the artistic criteria and the statue remained in place.
Lucifer was one of the highest ranking angels of Heaven, "light bearer" whose pride and envy led him to face God, be expelled from heaven and condemned to the depths of Hell. It represents us in this work as a young winged, naked, torn with agony, while a terrible seven-headed serpent surrounding the right hand and both legs dragging it to hell. undoubtedly one of the statues that you can see more shocking.
(An exact replica and little known of the famous statue)
And here came our surprise, as though the public believes this impressive work as the only worldwide dedicated to Lucifer, is that we learn that in fact there are "other" in this draft, and even a replica of the same image also in Madrid, specifically, at the top of the stairway entrance to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in San Fernando (top) and one more in a balcony of the Milanese street (corner Main Street) but the latter does not yet have the official status and even its author would prefer not to be related to the work of Bellver. Not only that, in Tandapi (Ecuador) there is another chilling piece representing the face of the Devil himself. Well friends, as we see it more of a "Lucifer" among us, so be very careful ... And do not forget to walk your respective cities always set on the facades, roofs and sculptures because I sure will wear more than pleasantly surprised. See you soon friends
(The Face of Evil in Tandapi (Ecuador) another impressive work no doubt)
One of our supporters has made Cuba a very interesting accuracy. In the National Capitol in Havana there is a picture of "Lucifer in rebellion." This is the image of a seraph naked, athletic and angel wings in the moment before being expelled from paradise. Here you have your image.
(Another spectacular tribute to Lucifer, in Havana)
Our great friend and fellow Christian Jorge Palan, Ecuador, told us the story of the statue of the Devil Tandapi or "nose of the devil", traditionally known as the face carved into the mountainside on the highway linking Aloag localities and Santo Domingo de los Colorados. The road appears to be very close and George tells us, many buses have fallen over the precipice. The sculpture is called "the brutal power" and is located on a bend of the road just at the beginning of the saw. The author of the face of the demon was Buenaño Octavian, who said as a justification for that length "if the Virgin and the saints have their sculptures, why can not the devil have his." Buenaño he tried to carve the sculpture was "the devil left in peace to drivers."
(Another stunning image of the devil Tandapi)
The figure is 20 meters high and stands on top of a hill that overlooks the curve of the road. The face has two horns that rise above the forehead, pointed nose, mouth, half open, reveals two fangs. At the bottom is written the phrase in capitals, brutal power.
Finally, in connection with the statue of Bellver in Retirement, sincerely recommend you read the book "Demons of kin" In his fourth chapter, "bronze frogs," makes a shocking description of a Black Mass held under the statue of Bellver.
Del Rio said that the 1940 and 1950 the sculpture was the venue for satanic rituals, and said it was during the rule of Franco himself when he studied the possibility of removal from the park. Today, despite the DGP tracks more than 20 Satanic sects in Madrid, the statue seems quiet. However, as Rhusdie Salman said "evil exists." Two of the sects that have more fans in Madrid are the Church of Satan, who celebrated black masses following the ritual of its founder, Anton Szandor La VSV U.S., and Worshippers of Seth, practitioners of the "Red Mass" ritual where they drink the blood of the slaughtered, mostly animals, but there are fears that practiced human sacrifice. Alpha Group members we have seen. I remember our tour of the dome of evil, and our first contact with the chilling Sanatorium La Marina. I expect many surprises still friends
