You bring up a great point. I think the confusion is that there are two types of chat. There's the full chat room environment. And then there is also the Instant Messenger type of chat at the bottom of each page. You're seeing the count of users on the system available to instant messenger at the bottom of the page.

The only way to see how many people are in the chat rooms, is to actually go into the chat rooms. But you bring up a good point and I will attempt to create a sidebar item to show how many people are in the chat rooms.

This may be that I'm handicapped in the internet department; I'll come on to this site and notice that several people are on chat. When I go onto chat, no one is there. Am I missing something?
