Though I am not an expert I have had dealings with some lesser demons. They can attatch to areas, objects or people. I personally don't believe a demon told him to burn the house, but I was not there so I can not be 100% sure.

Some spirit can be misread as demons if the haunting is not properly diagnosed. Education and follow up are absolutely essential.

That is not true. Demons can absolutely be attached to houses or objects. I've seen this myself, as I am a malevolent entity specialist. Also, the man claiming there were "demons" instead of one "demon" is correct- demons always come in groups. They never came solo. However, demonic cases - rather type 1 (homes), type 2 (objects, or type 3 (people)- are SO extremely rare. I would say that 98 percent of paranormal cases are not demonic. Education and follow up are absolutely important. Mental illness could absolutely have played a roll. As for someone burning down their own home? Sounds more like a mental illness case to me. If a true psychic had come in and found demons, they would have also offered help. Rather than leave the man to suffer. The article is interesting though, and no matter if its mental illness or demons- poor guy!

My opinion is the word demonic is great for TV . As far as possessing a house get real if that were the case the Roman Colosseum , humans at our worst should be filled with demons. demons are attached to people not houses . If you look for the dark you will find it. To many paranormal investigators throw the word demonic out to the public. This year I have found 99% of the residential haunting along with the demons are either mental or physical in nature . My last residental investigation the people were being haunted by a demon most of the activity was upstairs which was used for storage. They were getting sick only when the activity was going on. The truth was simple a trapped bird had made its way upstairs.End of the demon . All it takes is some so called medium sugguest demonic and it takes on a new life. I have only meet a hand ful of mediums that I felt was the real deal and none of them have written a book.

Education and follow up are both very good ideas, Steven. However, crazy is as crazy does, right? In the midst of trying to help someone a full psych profile isn't exactly a quick and easy thing to establish. I know nothing about this story other than what CC posted, but, does anyone know if this guy had a history of mental illness? I mean, ok, your home has been taken over by demons, fantastic. What do you do? Step 1, seek help. Great, did that, yep we got demons. Step 2, fight or flight? I think most rational people's fight response would be the clergy or other spiritual assistance in cleansing the home. Step 3, that didn't work, now what?! Again, rational response = get the heck out of dodge! Move to a new place a.s.a.p.!

I honestly don't see how a rational human being could go from confirmation of activity to "this place needs to burn". We could be missing a large part of the story, or just crucial small details. I just don't think that education and follow up are going to prevent another person who chooses the "burn it to the ground" option as the best solution to the problem without some serious psychological help.

Whatever the case in this particular situation, I certainly hope this man has no further negative supernatural issues, and also that he gets whatever help or assistance he might need.

You and I know someone that went through a similar situation that got so bad that the entire family had to leave. It happened to people that moved into the home afterward as well. While I do think there was "dark" energies involved in the above situation, I agree with you that education and follow up are needed to curb fears.

I saw another article recently of a man who burned down his own home. When he was questioned as to why he did it, he claimed it was because the house had demons in it. He had previously elicited the help of several Paranormal groups who indicated that there was some demonic entities that were present and causing activity.

I would certain urge caution for anyone how makes claims of demonic activity, without following up to ensure that the situation is taken care of or the fears are dealt with. Its only a matter of time before a case like this causes some form of outcry for civil or criminal actions.

Just curious what anyone else's thoughts on this are?
