If I keep looking at it I can see a horse face in the flames and I can see a full body floating up unless it is trick of the flame :)

who are you going to call..ghost busters.. there is a cartooney type ghost shaped plume, but no EXIF data.. and a little too perfect

I saw that, but figured it was just the smoke from the fire lit up by the orange glow of the fire. Do you have a high resolution version of this? I would be interested in seeing it zoomed in a bit.

Unfortunately, aside from the fire lighting up the smoke, no. Perhaps some sort of shape right above the chimney, but really, it looks like just the way the smoke was forming.
