Ah, lovely, real fairies! Now all this fairy talk has distracted me from my serious job of listening to all my voice recordings from last Saturday's overnight investigation. At this rate it will take me a month to go through it all but frankly it was a bit unnerving anyway, so I diverted off to my book of fairy poems
So, at the risk of also sounding a bit nuts, this is for all you fairy lovers:
Fairy spirits of the breeze
Frailer nothing is than these.
Fancies born we know not where
In the heart or in the air;
Wandering echoes blown unsought
From far crystal peaks of thought;
Shadows, fading at the dawn,
Ghosts of feeling dead and gone:
Alas! Are all fair things that live
Still lovely and still fugitive?
(William Winter 1836-1917)
Now back to my voice recorder. If I had a pound for every time I heard someone say, "Sorry, that was my stomach grumbling", I would be a very rich woman
