Visual Evidence:
In the paranormal world there is no greater prize than capturing a spirit on camera. Whether it is a hand held film camera, digital camera or video recording device (Handcam, Handheld Camcords etc etc etc) the end result can be an amazing piece of evidence that startles the imagination and intrigues more and more people around the world. Anyone who watches ghost hunting shows on TV will see a wide array of devices being used to track and capture these forms of evidence. Even the most up and coming paranormal investigator can simply point a camera and let the magic happen. However, there
are some items that need to be addressed when handling cameras.
First off, the type of camera being used can be very important. As some people have learned over the years, having a high end expensive camera can help improve the chances of getting an image that has more clarity and depth than a standard disposable camera. Not everyone can afford a new or expensive camera so keep in mind you must work within your budget. The camera choice must fit your style and work with your choice of investigations. When choosing the model camera, it is important to get the camera with the best clarity, zoom options and other selections to allow optimal clarity when shooting in daytime and night time. Infrared can be a great tool to use but expensive to adapt to common digital camera. Night vision has become more common in normal cameras however the actual ability for some of the cameras to utilize night vision is still open to debate. More often than not, the night vision only can see about 10-25 feet before fading out of view. Choosing a high capacity SD (memory) card is important so you can take continual video or pictures during your investigation without having to stop and swap cards. Internal hard drives are being built into many camera/camcorders and are a great way to have long amount of video or thousands of pictures on one drive. Battery life in hard drive based units is significantly less than standard SD models but is an option for those with the financial backing to do so. Choosing regular or rechargeable batteries can be important as well since they are different forms of batteries based on different forms of electronics.
Once you begin taking video or pictures it may be important to find a good software program to help analyze pictures and videos. These programs can be free or you can pay for professional versions. Ideally, it will be up to the investigator to decide what they want to use and what they are comfortable with. You do not want to crop or alter any evidence since it can be traced and will render the results invalid to most people who will notice. Since the goal of collecting evidence is to proof the existence of the paranormal, you do not want to leave evidence open to debate by making mistakes. Use evidence that is credible and unaltered so that skeptics have little room to argue and your hard work can be verified. Don’t let small mistakes ruin all of your hard work. Take the time to be efficient, patient and the entire experience will be rewarding.
About Me:
I have been involved in paranormal research, on and off, for over 15 years starting with experiences when I was a small child. Fast forward a few years and I am currently an active duty service member trained as a combat medic with a private health care degree. In this career field you see many things that make you question situations and decisions. I have learned to use logic, to the best of my abilities to help prove or disprove various situations. Being in a career where making decisions is a life or death situation gives someone a unique perspective on life and all things pertaining to it. As for my time in paranormal research I have based a majority of my time focusing on basic understanding, patience, being an “open minded skeptic” and helping others learn to do the same thing. I apologize for any grammatical or spelling errors. If anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to private message me. I will reply at my earliest convenience. Thank you all for believing.
