Ouija board

I was just wondering about the spirit portal "the Ouija Board." Okay so I will be truthful I was watching A Haunting episode the Diabolical. Anyway The Couple had a house and had incidents. One handicapped child seemed to see things. Anyway cutting to the chase. The couple played with a Ouija board then burned it. So just wanted to ask can you burn a ouija board?(literally) or would one be subject to bad experiences later? Perhaps leave the "door open to the other side. Or is it all Hollywood hype to get $$$ for their stories? Your input on the matter. thanks
