Sorry to hear about this Leslie. I hope you get to see a urologist soon. High protein in the urine is called proteinuria and yes your diabetes could be cause of this. Don't let yourself get too overwhelmed by what the doctor has told you or what you've read on a medical website. Everybody is different and symptoms occur for different reasons. When you see the specialist don't leave anything out in your medical history so they can piece together everything about your case.

Hi everyone,

I am writing this here so that I won't have to repeat several times, and wanted to keep you all in the loop of what is going on.

As you know I was at the ER back on the 17th of July with back pain. At that time they treated the high white blood cell count as a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection or a Kidney Infection). I finished the anitbiotics prescribed on the 17th this past Saturday. But as many of you know, the back pain has continued and I have not been feeling too good.

I had my follow up appointment today. This is the gist of the appointment. My doctor reviewed everything done at the Emergency Room back on July 17th.

He repeated a few tests, and they are still showing that I have a high white blood cell count still and I am dumping a dangerous amount of proteins as well in my urine. Thus he wrote a new antibiotic prescription and is referring me to a Urologist.

He said that because I am a Diabetic, that the diabetes could be the cause for this and all my lower back pain. However, he said the Urologist will do a scope to look at things better and to rule out other potential conditions such as:

Chronic Kidney failure
Heart Disease
Heart Failure
Kidney Infection
Leukemia
Lupus
Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cancer)
and some other conditions as well.

Thus I am waiting on my referral at this point and will start my antibiotics tonight.

Thank you for the love and support to date and I promise that as I learn what is going on, I will keep you all informed.

Hugs n love and deep appreciation,

Leslie
